Buon Giorno!
The Midrealm has a new Commedia dell'Arte troupe - i Verdi Confusi! Our pratfall grounds are the north-east lands of the Oaken region. We had our premier performance at the Northern Oaken War Maneuvers last month and our next show will be on Saturday, August 23 during the
Marche of Alderford's
Melee at Roswell: A Very Civil War (aka Oaken Melee School 9).
Commedia is a fun and hilarious theatrical art form originating as sponsored street performances in Sixteenth Century Renaissance Italy. Commedia employs masks, exaggerated stock character archetypes, satire, farce, slapstick, innuendo, naughtiness, and repetition to create plays from brief outline scenarios to which the actors improvise the dialogue and action.
We are a young and growing troupe so we invite any and all who would like to audition for this show as well as though who would like to help us brainstorm and write the new scenario. Even if you don't think you can attend this particular event, please join us to learn this wonderful comedic style - as we will continue to do more shows in the coming months. Our Concertatore, THL Tyzes Sofia ("
zsof") is gracious enough to provide her home just north of Akron to host our meeting on this upcoming Sunday, July 6. We are providing some refreshments and electrical outlets for all those who can't take a moment's break from sewing garb for Pennsic! Please email
lazzi -at- case -dot- edu or respond to this message with a way for us to contact you if you plan to attend and need directions or have any other questions.
If you're too far from our region but live in or near the
Barony of the Flaming Gryphon you should check out i Scandali, the Midrealm's premier (and as far as we know only other) commedia troupe (if you know or others, please let us know!). If you don't happen to live near a commedia troupe, you should form one!
